Intergenerational LGBTQ Stories of Transformation, Courage & Power
Add to Calendar
Our storytelling events have been poignant and powerful. The evenings have been more about deep sharing and connection than performance. One evening was sharing from long-term survivors of the HIV/AIDS epidemic and another was “coming out” stories. Each has been rich in diversity and intergenerational.
We were going to do another evening with just "coming out" stories again because they were sooo powerful. It also surprised people that "coming out" is not just a 'challenge of the past'. Coming out remains a profound act of courage and self-love for many people. Homophobia remains a huge challenge in our society. So we welcome more of those stories. Both of these nights were amazing.
We decided that we wanted to broaden the theme a bit, we are inviting the sharing personal stories honoring LGBTQ resilience, courage, power, vulnerability & magic. YOUR resilience, YOUR courage, YOUR power, YOUR vulnerability(true power), & YOUR magic.
Our storytelling evenings are facilitated by Gregg Cassin. A few folks will start the evening and then we will open it up. Please join us. And please feel welcomed to share your story!
If you have any questions please contact Gregg at Gcassin@shanti.org
Here is an invitation from our co-planner Priya whom I met at one of the storytelling nights...."Queer is not defined by where you are in your process. Queer is struggle, courage, love and transformation. Queer is community and we learn through each other regardless of which generation we come from. Come share stories of transformation and find out just how connected we all are. This event inspires each to be authentic and offers a chance to turn fear into family through the gift of storytelling
