More about Jane Kim:
Jane Kim heads the Bay Area campaign operations for presidential candidate Bernie Sanders.
Kim was elected in 2010 to represent District 6 on the Board of Supervisors, which includes South of Market, Mission Bay, the Tenderloin, Civic Center, Treasure Island and Yerba Buena Island. She is the first Korean-American elected official in San Francisco and the first Asian-American candidate to win a non-historically Asian district in the city.
Kim spearheaded an initiative to make City College of San Francisco the first community college in the nation to offer free classes to all residents regardless of age, income or educational status. Today, enrollment at CCSF is up by nearly 18% and 45,000 students are currently taking classes in the fall of 2017.
In 2006, Jane Kim was the top vote-getter elected citywide to the Board of Education. Later, her colleagues would unanimously vote her to serve as the President of that body.
About Manny's Super Civic Cyber Conversations:
San Francisco and the surrounding 5 counties are in the midst of mandated shelter-in-place. All businesses except those deemed essential are closed and many Bay Area residents and scared, nervous, and wondering about the future.
Manny's, a civic gathering and events space located in the heart of San Francisco, is rising to the occasion to create and promote a month's worth of live civic conversations to distribute needed information, give people the hope, and continue to civically engage the public in a time of need.
Manny's was opened on election night 2018 to create a physical place for people to go to become better informed and more involved citizens. Since opening we've hosted 17 of the Presidential candidates, over 550 civic events, talks, and gatherings, over 40 members of Congress including Speaker Nancy Pelosi, and leaders across different social justice movements like Alicia Garza, Jose Antonio Vargas, Michael Brune, Cleve Jones, and Gabby Giffords.
